September 2026
The road, chapter by chapter
Nine stops between Massachusetts and the last field in Pennsylvania. We told each one as a short film — start with the opening one, and the rest go up on Instagram through October.

01
The Longer Road
Boston to Pipestone, Minnesota · 1–4 September
The fast way was the interstate. We didn't take the fast way. Nine hours of corn, Lake Michigan at night with the city burning on the water, and a detour that stopped being a detour somewhere around Indiana.

02
Following the Spirit of the Trees
Pipestone, Minnesota · 4 September
The stone that becomes the sacred pipe is still quarried by hand here, by families who have done it for generations. We followed it west.

03
The Pow Wow
Marty, Ihanktonwan homeland, South Dakota · 5 September
An elder told us his people are Nakota — with an N. The books often say otherwise. He was there and the books weren't. Then an eagle came over the arbor, and nobody needed to explain it.

04
Following the Buffalo
The Black Hills, South Dakota · 6 September
A bison alone on the road, facing us down. A herd with calves in the grass. Wild burros in Custer asking for food through the window.

05
Kindness in the Rockies
Eagle and the San Juans, Colorado · 8–9 September
Two women we had just met handed us the keys to a cabin. No arrangement, no exchange. The whole tour runs on that — people with no reason to help, helping.

06
Unison Festival
Tico Time River Resort, Aztec, New Mexico · 11–14 September
Tour stop one. Days in the river, a procession of families through the dust, and a fire circle at two in the morning with djembés going. We crossed the country looking for a festival. What we found was community.

07
The Road Continues
New Mexico to Missouri · 15–16 September
One festival down, two to go. Sunset out of Unison toward Pueblo, then Kansas, then the long run east on I‑70.
-
08
Convergence Wellness Campout
Astral Valley, French Village, Missouri · 17–20 September
Tour stop two. Hotter and slower, and more familiar. Half the campout standing in the creek to cool off, flower crowns at our table all afternoon, and a screen behind the stage that said ONE FAMILY.
-
09
JunXion
Lake Como, Pennsylvania · 25–27 September
Tour stop three, and the end of the road. A wooden barn, a moon that looked like it was on fire, and three days of weather the forecast promised and the crowd ignored.
What travelled with us
Worn across the country

From the loom

Heavy Andean weave. They went out every night the temperature dropped, from the San Juans to the last field in Pennsylvania.

Stone & thread
Carried close
Macramé chokers, pendants and wrapped talismans — knotted by hand around stone chosen one piece at a time.

What comes next
The eagle flies south
On 24 October the Caravan leaves for Peru — back to the weavers, the beadworkers and the stone cutters whose hands made everything on this page. New pieces, chosen in person, from the people who make them.
