SHIPIBO WORK · PERUVIAN AMAZON
The heaviest pieces we carry and the slowest to make. The bowl is hollowed and the stem drilled by hand, out of a single piece of wood, and the animal is carved in relief around it.
Counting what is in hand…
THE PRAYER PIPES
There are never many of these at once. Each one is the work of a single artist over several days: the block is shaped first, then hollowed, then the figure is cut — jaguar, anaconda, eagle, hummingbird — and finally painted. Because the carving follows the grain of that particular block, two pipes of the same animal never come out alike.

Every piece on this page is one of one — when it is gone, it is gone. Tell us what you are looking for and we will write when the next ones land.
Some of these pieces are traditionally connected to ceremonial, artistic or ancestral practices. We buy them from the artisans who make them, we sell them as the objects they are, and we ask that they be treated with the same respect they were made with.
The Wizard Caravan does not claim to provide medical, psychological or spiritual treatment through any product sold. More in our FAQ.
WHEN THE NEXT ONES LAND
Every piece here is one of one, so the shelf changes week to week. Leave an e-mail and we will write before the next batch goes up — never more than that.
